This
tour allows you to visit the highlights of the heritage of Dubai ,
starting with the Jumeirah Mosque ( photo stop ), a magnificent example
of modern Islamic architecture . Our
second photo stop is Burj Al Arab, the tallest hotel on an artificial
island made reflecting the contrasts of the new architecture of Dubai.
The tour also takes us to the " Souk Madinat Jumeira " , a mall that has remained unchanged from the old style architecture and offers a wide variety of items from pashminas to crafts. The tour continues to " Bastakia " , a historic area of Dubai , which dates from the early twentieth century, with narrow lanes and high " wind towers " ( barajeels ) and allow us to get an idea of what the area in the past .
Enter this neighborhood is like jumping back in time it is full of traditional courtyard houses and wind towers . In the past, the city was famous for its wind towers that lined both sides of the creek ( Creek). They were not merely decorative , but they were the only way to cool the house before the arrival of electricity. We will continue the tour on the opposite bank of the creek .
Built in 1890 , the Heritage House is an explicit reflection of the traditional elements in ancient domestic architecture . The building consists of a large courtyard surrounded by about a dozen rooms, a wind tower and elegant rectangular plaster moldings kept decorations. This is a perfect example of local architecture. Along the southern edge of the Heritage House , is the Al- Ahmadiya School , the first regular school in Dubai , founded in 1912. It was built to educate the young in Islam and mathematics until 1995, this two-story building was renovated into a museum education . Most characteristic are its teak windows and doors . Most of the doors are decorated with stucco plaster and verses of the Quran written in Arabic spellings .
